Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Mix-ins:

  • 1 1/2 cups crushed Butterfinger candy bars
  • 1 cup caramel bits
  • 1/2 cup chopped peanuts (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt flakes (for topping)

Instructions

First: Prepare the Dough

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 2–3 minutes).
  4. Add Eggs and Vanilla: Mix in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract. Stir until fully incorporated.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  6. Fold in Mix-ins: Gently fold in crushed Butterfinger pieces, caramel bits, and chopped peanuts.

Second: Shape and Bake

  1. Scoop Dough: Use a tablespoon or cookie scoop to drop dough balls onto the baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  2. Sprinkle with Sea Salt: Lightly sprinkle sea salt flakes on top for a flavor contrast.
  3. Bake: Place the cookies in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown but the centers remain soft.
  4. Cool: Let the cookies rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Storage: Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Customization: Swap Butterfinger for Snickers, Reese’s, or crushed Oreos for a unique twist.
  • Serving Tip: These cookies taste even better with a cold glass of milk or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
