Fresh Sugared Cranberries on a Holiday Dessert Table

Add sparkle to your Holiday Desserts Table with this festive sugared cranberries recipe, a delight in both taste and holiday aesthetics.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 2 cups Granulated sugar, divided
  • 12 ounces Fresh cranberries (do not use frozen)
  • 1 teaspoon Orange zest

Instructions

  1. Place water and half a cup of sugar in a shallow saucepan. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sugar fully dissolves.
  2. Remove from heat and gently fold in the fresh cranberries, ensuring each one is well coated in the sugary mixture. Let sit for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cranberries to a wire cooling rack, ensuring they don’t touch. Let them dry for about an hour.
  4. In a shallow bowl, combine the remaining sugar with orange zest. Roll the sticky cranberries in the sugar-zest mixture and lay them out on a baking sheet in a single layer to dry completely for at least another hour.

Notes

  • Ensure cranberries are fresh, as frozen ones may result in a mushy texture.
  • Drying them in a single layer prevents sticking and clumping.
